How the Coin Spin minigame works
Coin Spin (internal name CoinTurn) is a one-on-one minigame: a Mii spins a coin, you call Heads or Tails before it settles, and a correct call wins a prize.
The odds
Section titled “The odds”Each spin, the game does a weighted roll to decide how to bias the coin, then applies that as a center-of-mass offset and physically spins it.
| Roll | Coin behaviour | Rate |
|---|---|---|
PlusOffsetRate | Center of mass shifted one way → lands Heads | 47.5% (0.475) |
MinusOffsetRate | Shifted the other way → lands Tails | 47.5% (0.475) |
ZeroOffsetRate | Balanced coin → stops on its edge | 5% (0.05) |
This roll is independent of your call. The edge landing counts as an automatic win, so whichever side you pick your effective win chance is:
47.5% (your side) + 5% (edge) = 52.5%
So, the game is very slightly in your favor.
